When I met Karin Fields,

owner of the the site www.ediblegardening.biz ,

she gifted me the sweetest pineapple I’ve ever eaten
and she told me how to grow up baby pineapples plants.

I’m trying to do it but it’s not easy living outside of the sunny Florida………

…..anyway,    I had some amazing result!

Here are the simple instructions she gave me:

planting-pineapple

– Twist off the top of the pineapple
– Cut off the bottom of the pineapple top approximately 2 rows of leaves up
– Strip off the bottom 2 to 3 rows of leaves
– Place the top on water for approximately three weeks away from a sunny window.
– Change water every couple of days
– When you see the long roots in the water, it’s time to plant the pineapple in the ground
– Plant in an area that has access to full sun and that can accomodate the leaf span, which can get up to six feet
– Keep it upright by surrounding it with dirt and mulch
– It will take at least 18 months to get your first pineapple
